Literacy and numeracy focus

The academy believes that students' enjoyment, academic success and future opportunities depend upon them being highly literate and numerate. The academy has a range of consistent expectations that students meet every day:

High standards (tracking and focusing on the person who is speaking; using full sentences and standard English at all times)
Mastery (expanding vocabulary through 'word of the week' and weekly spelling tests; use of dictionaries in ALL lessons)
Practice (regular fun and competitive practice of times tables; 30 minutes of reading for pleasure every day; having a DEAR book on them at all times).
