Lucy Barnes
Assistant Headteacher, Primary
Miss Barnes graduated with her Honours degree from Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett) in 2010. She began her teaching career for a supply agency in Halifax, gaining valuable experience in many different schools. She was then employed as a full-time NQT in Nursery at a village school in Halifax. During her NQT year, she was enlisted to improve teaching and learning outcomes in a mixed Year 3/4 class at the same school - the improvements she made were noted by OFSTED. The following two years were spent teaching Year 1.
2015 saw a move to Bradford, accepting a full time Nursery post at Dixons Allerton. The following year, she was promoted to Maths Leader, moving back to teach in Key Stage 1. For the past 3 years, Lucy has been the Assistant Headteacher and Leader of Key Stage One, where she leads a team of excellent practitioners who put the needs of the children at the heart of all they do. Their results continue to stay broadly in line with, or above national average.
