Danny Carr
School Trust Leader and Principal
Danny was born in Leeds and has always lived in the city. After studying GCSEs and A levels, he completed a degree in Public Relations in 1999. Danny then worked in a range of different jobs before returning to university to train to be a teacher in 2002. He has been an English teacher since 2003, challenging educational and social disadvantage in South Yorkshire, Bradford and Leeds.
Since 2012, he has been part of the Dixons Multi-Academy Trust as a senior leader; working at Dixons Allerton Academy and Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford. He has led on whole school initiatives for School Improvement, Teaching and Learning, school culture, Post-16, teacher training, leadership development and coaching.
From 1 October 2018, Danny became the founding Principal of Dixons Unity Academy in Leeds. Danny has since worked on improving the culture of the school and student outcomes, alongside developing a strong relationship with the community and almost doubling the number of students on roll at the Academy.
Danny is now returning to Dixons Allerton Academy after almost 7 years away and is honoured to be going back as Principal. Danny and the team of staff at Allerton have high expectations of the whole academy community, expecting that all students will leave the academy saying, ‘I developed good moral principles and achieved, exceptional outcomes that allowed me to have ambitious life choices.’
This will be achieved through a focus on culture, routines and high expectations for all students, alongside high quality teaching, learning and pastoral care.
Danny is incredibly excited for the journey ahead and cannot wait to see students thrive and grow from our primary setting through to Post-16 study and the joys and challenges that this will bring.
