Ben Fogarty
Vice Principal - Teaching and Learning
After graduating in history from the University of Manchester, and then in acting from the Central School of Speech and Drama, Ben started his career in the arts. He was an award-winning writer and actor, performing in and writing for theatres across the country for five years, before deciding that the life of a Bohemian was no longer for him. After enrolling on the Teach First programme in 2011, he spent the next 10 years working in challenging environments across south London, primarily as a history teacher, but with additional responsibilities including running the DofE programme, being a head of year, and most recently as a founder member and head of the Humanities faculty at a new free school in Dulwich.
Ben is passionate in his belief that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, caring and happy environment, and that all children should be facilitated with the opportunity, and invested with the desire, to lead satisfying and fulfilling lives. Originally from York, Ben is proud to be returning to the part of the world that he considers home, and feels it is a privilege to serve the Allerton community through his work at Dixons.
